I always notice that Korean males, both men and boys, often have grotesquely long fingernails.

Why?

They are too lazy to do it. I've noticed it too. Whenever i've asked korean girls what they think about guys with long finger nails none of them like it. One doctor i went to had long finger nails. I didn't stay his patient for very long.

That might explain why they get so many nosebleeds.

one time i asked a middle school boy why he had such long fingernails. He didn't know. I mentioned that in Canada boys usually had short fingernails and boys who didn't were teased. The next day i noticed he had cut his finger nails. He has grown them long since then.

Until the mid 1800's the nobility often chose never to cut their hair or fingernails, as it was a sign of respect to their parents... their parents having "given" them these things.

I think it was around 1880 that it was declared impractical and people were officially encouraged to trim.

Not true - the Chinese believe that it allows the "body's natural power/spritual to flow from the body out of that finger.... - its a spiritual belief....

Korean people tend to have fast growing nails... you would get sick of cutting them twice a week also - if you did.....

(doesn't that look strikingly nice alongside my avatar? Nosferatu was last seen boarding a plane bound for East Asia sometime in the 1980s. Unconfirmed reports say he flew business class. But there are no known surviving witnesses.)
