I'm just wondering how effective public transport is at night post bar / club etc...
Does the subway cease to operate after a certain hour? What about buses etc... |

subway ceases to operate around 12 ish. you can go to subwayworld.co.kr to get the exact times of each line. im not sure about buses but i dont think they run all night either.
the best thing to do is split a taxi with yout buddies. its not too bad, especially with 3-4 people. or make it an all nighter...this is always good in the summer as the subway opens back up at 5am. |

taxis in seoul are dirt cheap compared to most big cities like tokyo or london or new york. a 45 minute ride might only cost you 15-20,000 won or so. a trip to the airport (1 hr. 20 minutes) is around 60,000 won. most night life areas have a plethora of taxis 24/7, but there can be a crunch getting one around midnight when the subway closes (particularly parts of kangnam, itaewon and hongdae-shinchon). it's better to wait until 1 or 2 a.m. so you don't have to stand on the sidewalk for 30 minutes waving down cars. watch out for drivers who try to take the long way to bump up the fare. |

It blows that they don't have night buses here running on the hour every hour like they do in London. Would be great for those of us who live outside Seoul but would like to stay out a little later than usual. |
