My computor just tries to open it in word and it comes up in an unreadable code. Any ideas on how I can open it?

Often, renaming it as *.doc or *.txt will do the trick.
But not always .... |

| bottom left of this page you can download the Hangul Viewer which should let you print view and print hwp documents. |
