Is Busan a good city to start in? The job is what I have been looking for, but I am just not sure about the city. I have heard both good and bad things and I just wanted to get another opinion. I am looking for a city that has enough foreign teachers just in case I need help in English, with close access to the beach and lots of things to do outdoors, with a decent nightlife. Do you think Busan sounds like a good place for me? I would really prefer a place right on the beach, but I am afraid the city will be really small and there will not be any other English Teachers around. Help me!! |

Busan is the second biggest city in Korea (about 3 million people), it has two beaches, and whenever I've visited I've seen white people all over the place. Plus the weather is a little warmer, and the air is a lot cleaner than Seoul. |

Place right on the beach: means living in either Haeundae or Kwanganli (Samik beach apparts or other). You will only live there if your school is in or near those areas.
Small city: Are you kidding? Busan is a large city. It is a city of around 3,711,000 people.
Other English teachers: There are many, and not as many as Seoul, which I consider a small bonus sometimes.
But really, you want the lowdown on Busan? Contact other people living there (I have been living there since 1997) or go to pusanweb at: http://www.pusanweb.com/.
The site is dedicated to Busan.
Best of luck. |

Is Busan that small?
I always thought (because people always told me) it was around 6 million...
Anyway, I hope you don't end up at the same school as AssInMind (Aisainmind). |
