Anyone else noticed how many people are dumping their old Apple Powerbooks, etc., lately?

Me thinks they are too proud to admit they want one of the new ones with an Intel processor that works better with Windows stuff???

If anyone is for that reason BBE they shouldn't, as the processor switch was made not for software reasons, but because IBM could never produce a dual-core G5 processor for Apple that would work in their notebooks without overheating or consuming too much power. That's why the larger Power Mac will still - for the time being at least - use IBM's dual-core processor, while the smaller and thinner MacBook and iMac switch to intel.

The switch to intel will bring an improvement in performance, but won't allow Windows based applications to automatically run on a Mac. Microsoft has announced that they'll still produce a Mac version of Office, but for actual Windows based applications a Mac would need to have Virtual PC installed to run them. The same as has always been, even with IBM's processor.
