Where can I get a schedule of Korean soccer games? Everytime they play Japan it's a big deal and I want to know about it beforehand to invite coworkers over for a party.

I'm dying to get a ticket to a friendly.

There's the Korean Football Association page at http://en.kfa.or.kr/main.asp

They have friendly matches posted their as well.

The Reds are currently competing in Asian Cup preliminaries. They'll host a friendly versus Bulgaria on the 18th of November.

You can also check the roster for the national teams at the site as well.

There was to be an East Asian Cup in June or so which was cancelled due to SARS. I heard later that it was to be rescheduled for sometime around December 8. They should be playing Japan, China and HK at this tourny. I can't seem to find any info on it now. Maybe it's been cancelled again. If you go to www.FIFA.com and look at the fixtures, you should be able to find out what's coming up in the next 3 - 5 weeks.

Anyway, that Sat. match in Gwangju happens this weekend. I'd like to check the game out so if anybody is going down there PM me.

Most start times are 7pm. I'd like to see some day games scheduled once in awhile. I guess the night games help the tourism and hotels in the towns.

Side note: Friendly matches and qualifiers are rarely sold out. Thanks to the large, ultra-modern World Cup facilities that Korea spent so much money on.

Tickets are usually sold at the box office of the stadium before the games.

KBS and MBC replayed the K-League All Star game today. Pretty fun to watch, foreign players included.

High scoring game. Anyone know the final and where this was held?

They even had a skills competition.

The All-star game finished 4-2 to the Central side (Suwon, FC Seoul, Seongnam, Bucheon, Incheon, Daejeon) over the Southern side (Chunnam, Cheonbuk, Gwangju, Daegu, Busan, Ulsan, Pohang). The game was in Daejeon.

There were nae enough foreign players in the game, given that if you're picking the "stars" of the league then those guys are way ahead of most of the Koreans. Only one foreigner made it through the initial fan voting (Jasenko Sabitovic, and he's only weeks away from becoming a Korean citizen), the rest of the foreigners were drafted in by the two team coaches as extra picks. Three of the game goals came from foreigners, with Andy Cooke scoring both of the Southern side's goals.

On the internationals front... the game against Trinidad & Tobago is an interesting one. It was initially scheduled to be played in Suwon, until someone in the KFA decided that they had better do something about the "Sangam Jinx" - the national team haven't scored in the Seoul World Cup stadium since November 2002. So they shifted the T&T game to the Seoul stadium in the belief that even Korea's shot-shy strikers can emulate what Scotland did recently (4-1 over T&T, Berti Vogts' best win!) and break that jinx.

Heck, most of the teachers who came just to teach during the World Cup have probably moved on.

Wonder if we should get an Asian Cup thread going?

Actually, the KFA have dropped the Asian Cup behind the Olympic games in order of importance this summer. They've put national team captain Yoo Sang-chul (Yokohama F-Marinos), Kim Nam-il (Chunnam) and Song Chong-guk (Feyenoord) into the Olympic squad.

They're likely to face either Japan or Iran in the quarter-finals of the Asian Cup, which is not going to be easy... and could be on for meeting Iraq in the semi-finals

Anyone notice that the Korean National team doesn't play many friendlys away but always at home. It seems the only time they go abroad for a friendly is to Japan. Also they play alot of international friendlies, I gues it's the only way to fill those huge stadiums they built now that the World Cup is over.
