Hi there, I've been reading the posts about the LORs, visas etc, but think I've just succeeded in confusing myself.

So, any answers and advice about my situation would be much appreciated.

I am on my second contract with Epik. However, ideally I'd like to hand in my month's notice, and finish at the six month point (which will be the end of Feb) and move to another job, in a different province.

Does my current Supervisor HAVE to give me a Letter of Release?

If I do get a LOR, do I need to leave the country to get a new E2 Visa, or can I continue working on the one I have now that is valid until August?

Thanks

Hi Xteacher,
You responded for a question I had a coule months back, so I will respond for you. This is what I think- yes, you would have to get a letter of release, and yes, you would have to exit the country and come back in with a new visa for a new job. I think that's the same rule all around.
How uncomfortable is your situation? If you can stick it until the end of the contract you'll get 2 years of severance pay and you'll have a clean slate to set up elsewhere. September is a popular start time as well as March.
I think it all depends on what you can put up with for how long. Having enough support in your job situation is important.
Take care.

Thankyou CdnEducator.
Your answer kind of confirms what I was thinking, about it being quite a lot of hassle trying to change jobs mid-contract.
Sigh... must just think of the severance pay coming my way I suppose.
