There seems to be a new influx of new posters on these boards, some asking legitimate newbie questions, some sharpening their teeth at heated debates and some being complete asses.

Maybe it's always been that way, with many new members joining us all the time, and I simply didn't notice. Maybe it's the start of the school year coming up soon, the lunar new year, a return of old posters under different usernames or whatever...

I for one, would like to welcome the new members.

I don't post all that often but I like to help out newbies if I can. I am in no position to give you any advice on how to post, your posts will be taken into account by the other members. Don't get too offended if some people offer points of view that are very different from yours. Somehow I think that's what keeps us all coming back here.

The only bit of advice I can offer comes straight from the mouth of Jerry Springer: "Take care of yourselves and each other".

Interesting, I always thought that was Churchill: amazing the things you learn here.

And welcome newbies ...

Shucks, that's almost like a compliment. Thanks! I am newbie to Dave's, though not a newbie to life or Korea, the internet, and discussion forums. I must say that of all the discussion forums I've pimped around in, Dave's is the most intelligent, well-mannered, well-moderated, diverse in opinion/gender/background that I've seen or posted on.

Thanks for the red carpet Wink

Hey jay-shi thanks for the kind words. This is my second year in Korea but my first try at posting on Dave's. I have learned a lot from the other posters, from how severance pay works to where to find tomato soup! I hope I'll be able to give back something useful while I am enjoying the discussions. I really admire posters like Homer and Grotto who take such care to assist newbies with contract questions and other info; way to go.

Thanks for the welcome.

Am new to the board but not Korea and really didn't know the first time around that it existed (hence my getting a not so fab contract).

I feel better prepared this time around though and feel good knowing that I can come here and ask questions from people who are actually living the experience.

Thanks for the welcome! Speaking of Jarry Springer, have you heard this episode of This American Life about him? (You can listen to This American Life for free on the internet.) Hearing about his start as a politician and how he got into the TV job really changed my opinion of him.

Aww, I just feel so darn welcome! Thanks! Very Happy

This forum is amazing! I'm leaving for Korea as soon as my visa is processed. I have a great job (hehe optimism) thanks to the helpful tips I found on here.

Peppermint - you rock my world!

I'm not the type of person to have "favourites", but if I did, you'd be it.
Thanks!
