I'm going to Beijing this weekend (Lunar new year's).
How should I convert won to RMT? Here? There? Get US dollars first?
Also, since I'm sure Beijing will be packed for the holiday should I reserve a budget hotel in advance instead of just showing up and assuming there will be rooms available?
Its my first time in China so Im not sure what to expect. |

I went on an organized tour so I'm not sure about hotels and stuff.
But...I wasn't able to exchange Korean won for RMT ANYWHERE, hotel, bank or anything. You can exchange US and Canadian but not Korean.
I was able to use my Canadian bank card though, which saved my life.
Have fun. |

You can get RMB at KEB, and I'd do it before you leave not because of the currency rates, so much as the chances of finding an open bank during a major holiday.
I'd book a hotel, for the first night anyway. You'd probably have better luck asking over here : http://beijing.asiaxpat.com/ |
