Apparently blowing up commerical airliners for the good guys doesn't get you sent to Guantanamo.

Quote:
The sudden and untimely arrival on U.S. territory of a former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) asset and admitted terrorist, Luis Posada Carriles, poses an embarrassing challenge to the credibility of the Bush administration's war on terrorism.

Posada, who in an interview with the New York Times seven years ago admitted to organizing a wave of bombings in Cuba in 1997 that killed an Italian tourist and injured 11 others, is best known as the prime suspect in the bombing of a Cubana Airlines flight shortly after it took off from Barbados in October 1976.

The incident, in which all 73 crew members and passengers, including teenage members of Cuba's national fencing team were killed, was the first confirmed midair terrorist bombing of a commercial airliner.

Then-President George Bush in 1990 pardoned Orlando Bosch, another Cuban exile opposed to President Fidel Castro and implicated in the plot, overruling a strong U.S. Justice Department opinion that called for Bosch's deportation.

Are motivations secondary to actions? Or is it the other way around?

He should be still be sent to the international court in the Hague, not to Venezuela. The US doesn't need to show respect to the government of Chavez.

It is a matter of ethics and international law. Not about a p*ssing contest between two administrations.

But Joo, I thought seeing democracy spread everywhere is what the Bush regime was all about. And Chavez has been elected mulitple times in internationally recognized free and fair elections. Say it is not so, Joo.

What more could the Bush regime with it's goal of bringing democracy everywhere in the world regardless of how many civilians and American soldiers die to do it want from a government? They don't even have to invade or kill a single soul to get democracy in Venezuela because it's already there. Pretty cool, huh?

There are real questions about the way Chavez runs things so send the guy to the international court.

As for the other stuff US actions saved lives in Iraq. Saddam was one of the great killers of the 20th century it wasn't like he was going to change.

The US ought to show respect to those who earn it.

Well dang, Joo. There's more real questions about whether the Bush regime came to power in fair and free elections than there is about whether Chavez did. I guess other countries might reasonably decide not to extradite anyone here in that case. Right, Joo?
