Anyone ever looked into getting one of these before?
Essentially passing the exams to be qualified as a real estate agent. |

My brother got his because he was buying older, run down houses, fixing them up and making a killing on the resale. Easy peasy. Nothing to it if you have half a brain. And I know you have more than 1/2 Tiger.
The exam is nothing. If you can graduate from a university, you can pass the exam. |

Flip This House!
Fun show to watch. Although when the featured flipper of the week runs into horrible unforseen foundation problems, you're happy it isn't your budget being blown. |

I was looking more into it today.. looks like its really unpredictable income.. from what I understand.. a real estate person is essentially self-employed and working entirely for commission off the sale.
makes sense.. but sounds kinda tough getting started! |

Dude, the field is overcrowded as hell, especially in the lucrative markets. My father is a broker and it took him years to build up a clientele.
I lived in LA for two years, and gosh, you have to have movie star looks and connections coming out of your ears to earn a living. The book Cool Careers for Dummies lists real estate agent as not cool since only 20 percent of agents make a middle-class salary and that the Web will continue to erode work for agents.
Because of the competition, agents frequently have to cut their commissions and well, it's a dirty sector rife with backstabbing, stealing of leads and the like.
Just about everyone I talked to in LA had or spoke about getting a license, and it's good for the licensing agency since they earn a fortune in the fees collected from the licenses and tests.
My advice is to try to find a less competitive niche in the real estate market but get your sales license. Then you can still work in the field and close a sale or two on the side. |
