Yea so its planting time again or at least planning time. Post your successes, failures dreams and reality checks here.

1) I'm doing hydro this year and much much less dirt.
2) I will have a booth at Damyang's Annual Bamboo Festival where I will sell Bamboo hydro units
3)Where/when/what is Korea's annnual gardening show?

Mo later...!

So, if you are doing Hydro, I presume indoor growing light systems are available in the R.O.K. Where and how much are they?

Good question. I want to get my green beans & herbs going in about a month and I'm gonna need some extra light.

My plan this year:
* Green beans
* corn
* cilantro, basil & oregano
* butternut squash later in the season

I'm also going to stake out my territory in our apartment's garden area with a string fence & nasty warning signs. Maybe this year I can keep the neighbors from ripping out my almost-mature bean plants. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

The hydro stuff, sans plant food is largely available at the harware market at eujiro 3 ga/ jongno 3 ga subway stops. The plant food can be made locally from recipies on the net or you can buy it online and have it sent here. There are some small plasitic widgets for hoses/water control that I find very handy that I can't find here so I'll be looking at medical supply stores soon for similar items. After that, I haven't found rockwool but I haven't tried yet since I have plenty. The clay pebbles are here too. Perlite is here but I haven't used that yet. The lights are at lighting stores along with the bulbs and transformers/ballasts. The lights are very reasonably priced.

You need to be creative and improvise. The complete hydro units sold on the net are expensive, like $9 per plant-unit. Home made is more like $1.50 per plant unit and you have to use PVC pipes, bamboo pipes, tires or other material.

Koreans don't hydro right now but I'm working on that. When I mention it to them, I get a sincere mo-lay-yo and a shrug. I'll try to bring them around this summer.

The Damyang Bamboo Festival is the last week of April, first week of May.
