I'm teaching literature at a university--12 hours a week, four different classes, seven months of the year, nice salary and office, no interference from the department and no summer camps, proofreading, or paperwork.
BUT, I'm in the second of my three years here with the university's lousy three-year rule.
I'm interested in staying in Korea but don't want to move to another university where I'll have to teach 22 hours of Interchange per week, attend meetings, be stuck in a cubicle, etc.
Anyone in a similar situation? We could set each other up at the end of next year.
PM me if interested. |

So you've got the dream job. Count yourself fortunate that you have it at all. And with almost a year to go? I'd say that it's a bit early to start whining. Not all uni jobs involve 22 hours of Interchange (mine certainly doesn't). Enjoy what you have, and then suck it up. I had a similar situation: Working at a teacher's college (kyodae), and then the dreaded three-year-rule kicked in. I simply moved my act down the street to a national uni: smaller pay, worse students, lousier accommodation. But all in aid of the larger picture. Keep that in mind. And you'll never have to descend to hagwon hell. Cheers. |
