I've got a 12 hour layover in KL. Any suggestions as to what I can do? Can't see hanging out at the airport the whole time!

There are about 50 gazillion trillion malls in Kuala Lumpur. You could visit one of them.

There's a good one called Mid-Valley Mega Mall. You can get there by taking the monorail to Bangsar monorail station then catching a shuttle bus.

Another good one is Suria KLCC at the KLCC monorail stop which you can get to if you take the train from KLIA to KL Sentral. If you go there and go outside the mall you can see Petronas Towers.

Or take a taxi from the airport to Putrajaya and have a look around. Apparently there's a nice mosque there.

There's not really much to Kuala Lumpur.

The Islamic Arts museum is pretty cool. There are the Petronas Towers too. Chinatown is all right.

I am in KL right now. Just take the airport taxi's to anywhere you want to go in KL. I would start at the Petronas Towers, shop in the huge mall that is at the bottom (Suria KLCC) and then walk to KL tower, go up it, and then just start walking around. Super friendly people, and honest, so you can take cabs as well (They won't rip you off). You can walk most places, so go to Merdeka square and just walk around taking in all the Islamic architecture and Chinatown is right there too. Great city, have a good time.

Take the high speed train to downtown. Don't waste your money on a taxi as it will probably be slower.

Then go to an Indian area of KL and get some of the best curry outside of Madras into you.
