There's a girl who works in a PC bang near where I live that's just started working there. I fancy her, big time, and I feel we click - she's everything I like in a woman, pretty and fun, slightly unusual and a bit whacky, confident, far from shy. By golly, she floats my boat. Her English is sh1te of course but that adds to the fun. I asked her age and she said 19 (which of course means 18 to me).

Previously, quite recently, I fell in love with a 19-year old back home. In my country of origin, that was socially-acceptable. I'm 27 although probably look older (unfortunately).

Anyway, whilst I've no qualms whatsoever about dating ladeez who are 8-10 years younger than me and don't particularly care what others think, how socially acceptable/unacceptable would it be to do so with a K-girl? I'm thinking in terms of what her mates would think, what her parents would think, how influential these factors are generally. It depends on the person, obviously, but what are some of your observations about dating K-girls in their late teens please? Have you done it? Would you do it?Generally, I view others' opinions about moral issues with complete lack of concern and my sole goal in life is to delight my own soul, but as I'm in a foreign country, I felt I'd better take it into account on this rare occasion.

Ask her if she's an orphan. If she says yes, then green light.

I would do it. She would know best what her friends and relatives would think about it, right? You're not some old lecher, and even if it all goes south later at least you went for what you wanted. I've only regretted the times I found a reason to ignore what I really wanted, never the times what I wanted turned into what I hated.

Just my two cents.. but I've come to the realization that 19 Korean = 14 western.. male and female... be ready for some serious issues and headgames that you thought one would be over by now...

I don't know how much I'd have in common with a 17/18 year old

Dating girls that young is bad. You are a bad man. You will go to a hot place. The only way to save your soul is to pass on her phone no. and/or email address to me so I can teach her the ways of the righteous (or if she has friends...) Wink

you shouldn't let social norms stop you, what should give you pause is the headgames part.

but of course sounds like you'll do it anyways Cool

The age difference would more than likely freak them even if you were a good, clean and wholesome Korean lad. Age difference is a HUGE deal here. The fact that you're a hairy barbarian as well...? I don't like your chances.

Koreans don't like big age differences. I know I got into a bit tut tutting from my workmates for dating a guy in his 40s (I'm 25), I should imagine the rents would hit the roof. Also make sure she is the age of consent as I'm sure deportation on the grounds of statutory rape won't look good when travelling in the guture.
