When all of the pluses and minuses have been added up, what do think overall about living in Korea? And how long will you stay here?

I am quite happy, but can only see myself living here for a few years at most. While I like my job and the cost of living, I miss the cultural diversity and space at home. I also find it hard to understand where Koreans are coming from sometimes. For the most part, they are nice people and I am usually treated well.

Korea is OK. I make my own hours. There is lots booze and
members of the opposite sex. The internet lets me watch
everything I want without commercials. But, I don't think I
could ever leave. What would I do without Flotsams wonderful
posts? I think they should change the name of this board to:
Flotsams ESL Cafe.

I went mountain climbing for the first time in Korea today. That was a great experieince. I love the food here, except for the lack of Mexican food. The work is both rewarding and dissapointing. The people are friendly, except sometimes they're nosey or just ignore you, even the ones you've made aquaintences with. And they certainly aren't reliable for anything. The pay is so-so. The scenery is both repetitive and exotic.

Occasionally I feel an extreme social isolation, most of the time I'm happy, or at least content. I'll stay for awhile, maybe I'll change my mind.

For me, it depends on the job. When my job is good, I really enjoy my life here. Right now, my job sucks the big one so I'm not enjoying my life. With any luck at all things will pick up in September.

I told my brother a while ago that if he sees me in California again, I'll be there as a tourist. I miss redwood trees, and some coffee shops in San Francisco that I doubt are there any more, and I definitely will see the Yosemite Valley one more time before I die. I still vote, but that's all the attachment I have to what was once my home.

I don't dislike America, and I will always be an American. I'm enjoying my life here and every day I find ways to make it better. That's all.

I like Korea enough, and have had a rewarding experience here overall.
Even the frustrating/maddening situations here get worked out with minimal hassle. And quickly.
Seems everything back home takes 6-8 weeks for consideration, then a polite, "Thank you for your concern, we'll get back to you."
Then the Black Hole.

I do have family and business issues to tend to though. I'll likely leave Korea this year.
Not cutting any ties.. my in-laws are here! We'll certainly visit.
And we have a rental property we can kick the tenants out of should we decide to settle here in the future.

I've enjoyed my time in Korea. There are still a great number of things I haven't done that I would still like to do. However, there's simply no way I'd be able to settle down here for good. I envision myself moving on to Europe in about two years, maybe three. Ya never know...

I'll always say that my year here was a great experience, and I'm very glad I came.
However, I'm excited to leave and move on to other things.
I can't say for sure that I'll never come back, I guess I'll just have to see where I am in a few years!
