I think this is a relatively simple question (provided someone has an answer). I work for a large, non-franchised school with several branches. I'm more than a little bored with my current post (more the city than the job) and the next 6 months here don't really excite me. Is my visa for work at my school only (the physical branch I am at now) or is it for the corporation as a whole? Meaning, if approved by the boss, is a transfer possible that does not involve a new visa? Thanks for any help.

I don't know if you can do it on the same visa, but even if you can, you would still need to do some paperwork. The reason for that is because a visa is not only tied to an employer but also an address as well. Even if you don't have to change visas, you would still need to change the address on the visa. I suspect that this would also mean transferring the visa from one immigration office to another if your new branch is in a different immigration office's jurisdiction.

All of this confusion leads me to suspect that they would tell you to just get a new visa, but I'm not sure. The only thing I can tell you for certain is that you would not be able to do it without dealing with immigration in some capacity first.

If it's non-franchised then you need a new Visa. You will also have to specify to immigration exactly which branch your presently working. Whether it's franchised or not.
