Hello, I have some tattoos I'd like to finish up. I have a great tattoo artist in Taiwan, but I'm wondering if going to Japan would be cheaper airfare wise. I plan on finishing full sleeves on both arms with Japanese bando, just wondering if I should just fly back to Taiwan to finish or if airfare to Japan is drastically lower. Any thoughts, opinions welcome. Thank you |

Depending on the airline and dates... the prices are about the same from Seoul-Japan or Seoul-Taiwan. |

Airfare wise, maybe. But I'd be willing to bet the inkwork would be much more expensive in Japan if you're looking to get that much work done. Not to mention Japan is just a really expensive place. I think the difference in airfare is nothing compared to how much more you would pay in Japan for everything else. |

I already paid about $1500 to get my entire upper back and half sleeve on my right arm in Taiwan. However, my artist was amazing he did it free hand with no marker or stencile, it's amazing. I go to tattoo parlors here in the USA and the artists are amazed at the work the guy did, it's really hard to decide, I've seen alot of good work from Japan. Such as www.miyazo.com |

Cathay pacific has a deal on to taipei now. Flight and a night's hotel for 260,000. For that price, I 'd go with what you know. |

Thanks, I appreciate the quick responses. I love my tattoos and I especially like the responce I get from Korean males on my Tattoos. I have two daughters with my Korean wife and have had alot of issues while in Korea, any deterrent is a good deterrent in my opinion. Having alot of tattoos ahs dramatically changed the ways I've been approached in Asia, when I had just one people were ok, after my sleeve, no one talks to me. After reading the news about all the crimes against young women I need all to tools I can get, not just for Korea, any country. Need daughters to be safe. |

i would stick with who you know in taiwan ... but japan does have some really great tattoo parlors.
when i first came to korea, i had my nipple pierced - going to the bathhouse with that in was always an interesting experience. that was around 9 years ago so it just freaked the hell out of most people. most people don't seem to mind my tattoos - except for my wife, she isn't to keen on them - which sucks of course... |

You know, it is possible to get tattoos done in Korea. Some of the people have gotten very good, but you have to be picky. |

Is it just me, or did everyone wonder what the heck he is talking about? How do tattoos protect your daughters? I really don't understand the importance of having the tattoos in the first place, but you can trust me...they don't have magical properties. |

What? I don't see a connection between a man having tattoos and the safety of his daughters. |

Tattoo removal perhaps?
If that's all this is about, Korea is probably a decent place to get that done. |

In Korea and Japan, tatoos are closely associated with gangsters. Any Korean or Japanese guy you see with full-sleeve and back tatoo work is 99% chance a gangster you need to stay away from. For that very reason, a lot of bath houses in Japan even have signs outside forbidding those with tatoos to enter. Thus having a lot of tatoos makes you very intimidating here in Korea. I think that's what he was getting at. |
