I'm going to be in Seoul for a day or so in March and am looking for a pretty good hotel near Incheon Airport or within a decent driving time from Incheon. Is there a subway connection from the Airport in to Seoul? If not, how are the buses. I wouldn't mind one in the city somewhere, but last time I had to get from the airport to a hotel it ran me 110,000 won in cab fare. I'd prefer not to do that again. To put that in perspective, the hotel only cost $59 bucks.
Also, what do prices run on the bullet train? I'll be coming in to town from Pohang and I hear that's the fatest way to travel, unless I fly outa here.

There is no subway to Incheon Airport, but there are very reliable and comfortable buses which go to Incheon Airport from many different places in Seoul. For example, the buses from Gimpo Airport take about 40 minutes and cost about 6,000 won.
There is no reason to take a 100,00 won cab to the airport, nor is there any reason to get a hotel near the airport. You can get a hotel in Seoul and catch the bus to the airport no problem. You just have to figure out where you want to get the bus from and find a hotel near that place. |

Any recommendations? I'm looking for something a bit touristy since I won't have much time there and would like to see some really intersting things in a short amount of time. At the most I'll be there from Sunday afternoon until Tuesday, when I'll have to head back to Pohang.

I agree with JB. You can stay almost anywhere in Seoul, just check to make sure that one of the airport buses picks up nearby. Even if it doesn't, there are plenty of bus stops that could be reached from the subway. I've taken the airport bus from Hapjeong Station, Namdaemun, and Anguk Station near Jongno. They're always comfortable and fast. I think the Incheon airport website lists the stops for all of the bus routes, but their website is currently down for maintenance and I can't check it. The city gov't also has the stops listed at this site: http://english.seoul.go.kr/residents/transport/trans_09air_0103.html In my case, the cost was 8,000 Won each trip.
If you only have a few days, Jongno has a nice selection of cheap (approx. 30,000/night) guesthouses. It's near several touristy sites, Dongdaemun, Namdaemun and Myeongdong aren't too far away, you have good subway access...I'd recommend that if you don't have anything in particular you want to see. PM if you want some specific info. |
