Hello,
I have been teaching in Deagu for almost a month. The school has decent resources but I am already wanting to use new materials in the classroom. Is there an ESL bookstore in Daegu?
Thanks! |

| Kyobo books is about the best selection I've found in Daegu for ESL materials. |

Do all Kyobos have English books, or is it only the one downtown on the second floor?
Please advise. |

Kyobo hasn't got much of anything, just a few lame course books. However, they do have a good selection for TOEIC, TOEFL, and vocabulary books published by Korean publishers.
You'll do better at ESL specialist bookshops like English House in Suseong-gu or With Us downtown. |

That's the only Kyobo in Daegu that I know of. I usually do my school-related shopping when I'm in Seoul. |

Yes, there is. WITHUS bookstore is probably the best bookstore in Daegu specializing in English teaching materials. It has been around for years, and if you are a teacher they will usually give you a discount.
Unfortunately it's a little hard to describe where they are located. This hand-drawn map is from Cedar's Daegu Guide website and is five years old, but it shows the location of the bookstore (number 40):

The intersection in the bottom left corner of the map is where Banwoltang Subway station is located now. If you take exit #12 at Banwoltang, walk straight for about 5 minutes, and turn left at the next large intersection, it's on the second floor of a building next to a wedding shop. I was there three weeks ago. |

| Or you can ask the taxi driver to take you to Il Shin Hakwon - Withus is just across the street. |

| The store I've been to is called English House. It has very good resources. It's hard to find though. The only way I know how to explain it is this: From bummeo junction take the 427 bus south, same as if you were going to Jisan. Take it all the way down to the very tall TBC building.(before the big intersection where the bus turns left to get to Jisan). Get off there, cross at the lights and to the left of the crosswalk is an office/store building. It's on the second floor. The sign is hard to see, but keep looking up, and eventually you'll see it. Good luck. |
