LOL wow...

So, I've been meaning to meet the folks that live across the way from me (5th floor, two apartments) but have never had the pretext. So tonight after coming home from the local party store and stocking up on smokes and soju, I decided I kind of wanted a pizza.

Now usually I go to the party store and have them order it for me, but I didn't feel like trucking up and down five fights of stairs again, and I had heard my neighbors coming home about thirty minutes ago... sooooo.

I knock on the door, knock again, the son answers... they're a bit suprised to see me, but laugh when they find out why I came. They invite me in, have me sit down, and out comes the bible.

Now, I had planned on meeting them, i.e. "Hello, how are you, thank you for ordering the pizza" and then going back to my humble abode to get s-bombed off soju. Nuhuh.

So the bible is out, and we're jiving, I'm making light hearted jokes and doing my best to listen to his ill confused interpretation on Christianity (I was raised Catholic, went to Catholic school, have two aunts that are Catholic nuns, read the bible over a dozen times, and, subsequently am a staunch determinist with no religious claims) all the while nodding and smiling, lying through my teeth about how I'm still a Catholic. No harm no foul, not like I could (language barrier), or would want to, engage him in a highly theological debate, but might as well be polite so he doesn't think some kind of horrid atheist lives next door (I'm not btw, an atheist that is, I am quite horrid).

So we're sitting on the couch, I'm citing a few references, he's trying to tell me "all ghosts are bad" and "all angels are good" but couldn't make the connection between Satan being an angel, and the Holy Ghost not being an angel.. Oh well. Next thing you know, pizza arrives, only they insist on paying for it, and ordered a second one. So now we're sitting on the ground eating their pizza, doing the prayer bit, when out comes the gwahmagi (I had told them I liked it, so they decided to serve it).

One thing leads to another, and out comes the Soju, we're watching soccer, making small talk. He wants me to go to church with him (saying, and I quote, "I wantuh you touh come worshipuh me, I meanuh withuh me") So I nod, and say that would be fine, why not, an hour a week isn't going to kill me and I'm a little curious about a Korean church anyway. Then he starts in on wanting to have me over for dinner once a week, I agree again, free food shant ever be turned down... and then out comes the proposition to pay me to tutor is son. Of course I decline and say I'll do it for free if he'll help me with Korean (incidently he speaks Japanese, Chinese, and Korean fluently, and a not so bad version of English) and any other languages I had questions about. They were more than happy to oblige.

So that was my Sunday... usually a boring day, I tend to get drunk and pass out by 11. Ah well, cest la vie, now I have a perfectly untouched pizza in the fridge, a full belly, and still a bunch of soju. Life is good, can't do shite like this in America.

Now you did it...they will never leave you alone. It's like feeding the bears...they never go away.

When the sign says "don't feed the bears", brother, you better not feed those bears!

ޱ... it's semi-dried raw fish served in a lettuce, seaweed wrap with a raw green onion, piece of garlic, spicy sauce, and some other kind of vegetable I haven't quite figured out yet... very good, and seasonal.

As for the feeding the bears reference? Nah. This is why I came to Korea.

Uh-huh. Back to the Korean War, when will you apologise for your defamatory statements about Canadian troops in Korea?
