If you change jobs after you finish your contract.
1. You have to have new 'original' transcripts sent to you.
2. You have to RE-submit your transcripts and original diploma to immigration to get the 'Request for VISA' form.
2. You have to leave the country to get the new VISA stamp.
WHY?
You are in the system. The government computer network has all your information stored under your passport number.
You should be able to take you passport, a letter from your new employer, and the contract to immigration and get a new VISA stamp. And instead of charging 60,000 won for the VISA they could charge 260,000 won to renew a VISA. Its cheaper for the school (no paying for the VISA run), a lot more money for the Korean government, and its easier for the teacher. Its a win, win, win situation.
There is a hagwon association which every Hagwon owner is required by law to join. The association could petition the government. The teachers could form an association/union and petition the government. |

Koreans enjoy dealing with mountains of paperwork- it makes them look busy, while allowing for lots of starcraft or online shopping time at work |

This one is not new. It's been like that for years.
The rationale behind it is that you shouldn't be here if you don't have a visa. I know it sucks, but immigration bureaucracy is nonsensical the world over. |

unless something has changed that i don't know about, you don't have to leave the country if you're re-signing with the same school |

thank you. I think I'm heading toward the perfect storm with my hagwon, and i worried for a moment that this was just one more ingredient.
end of contract. boss hasnt paid taxes. just pushed my pay schedule back another week. (she will pay on the 13th of february for work until the 27th of january meaning that at teh end of the contract, she will be five weeks and three days behind.) bunch of stuff, but i think she working up to a huge (milllions) ripoff.... |

I'm only guessing, but I think that's the deal. As long as you are re-signing. |

You should never fall more than one week behind. This is what I call the "no payee, no workee" situation. If they don't pay you after payday, come in every day for a week and ask every day about pay (ignore anything they tell you other than "Here it is"). Then on Friday tell them you are staying home until you get your pay (in full). |
