ive just bought a higher capacity slave drive, i have physically installed it, and on boot i can see it being detected on the black boot screen before windows starts.
how do i get the drive to appear on windows ie in my computer... eg D drive.

Right click on 'My Computer', click 'Manage', click 'Disk Managment', then you will see your drive will show there. Just right click on the the space where it will say 'Disk 1' and click 'New Partition' or whatever option comes up. You will know it when you see it. Just accept all the default values.
I also do not waste my time doing a normal format. Just do a quick format. |

the quick format doesnt validate the sectors - you could have bad sectors which would lead to data loss, or the h/d attempting to handle questionable sectors (slow). |

Yes, thats true but if its a new drive its highly unlikely. I only do normal formats when I suspect its faulty. |

You bought a second hard-drive to use as a slave off your master hard-drive? Then, you need to move the plastic breaker at the back of the drive. It's set at right-most position out of the box. Move it one position to the left of the right-most position to set it as a slave drive. |

Well, that depends on what drive it is. If it's a samsung you remove the jumper all together. |
