Korean guy (kyopo) here at work (usa) just told me that the Moonies own the circle K corporation. He said the K with the circle stands for united Korea, etc.

T/F?

Thanks!

A quick search in google.com shows this:

Quote:
Circle Ks success in the convenience retailing industry spans more than 50 years. Our roots trace back to 1951 when Fred Hervey purchased three Kays Food Stores in El Paso, Texas. Little did anyone know that these stores would serve as the beginning of Circle K – one of the nations leading convenience store chains.

During the early years, Herveys enterprising spirit enabled the company to make its mark in the southwestern part of the United States. He grew the Circle K chain into neighboring New Mexico and Arizona, which has been the companys home base since 1957.

During the next few decades, Circle K grew its retail network through a series of acquisitions, which were incorporated into the Circle K brand. By 1975, there were 1,000 Circle K stores across the US. In 1979, Circle K entered the international market when a licensing agreement established the first Circle K stores in Japan. The companys growth continued and by 1984 sales had reached $1 billion.

In 1999, a franchise program was introduced to support operators looking to build a business with a leading convenience store brand. Now there are more than 6,000 Circle K sites operating in the US and seven other countries.

Circle K has become one of the most widely recognized convenience store brands, known worldwide for quality products and great customer service. We have come a long way since our humble beginnings, and were proud of where weve been and where were going. Please visit our timeline to learn more about the Circle K story.

I personally think that Rev. Moon is very materialistic (and he's made a lot of money in the shrimp business...) but he has an interesting bio in Wikipedia. I'll just copy the first couple paragraphs:

Biography

Life in Korea

Sun Myung Moon was born Moon Yong-myung in Sangsa-ri, Deogun-myun, Jeongju-gun, North P'yŏng'an Province, Korea (now in North Korea) to Moon Kyung-yoo and Kim Kyung-gye. The Moon family held traditional Confucianist beliefs, but converted to Christianity when he was about 10 years old. On Easter morning in 1935, when he was 16 (in Korean age reckoning), Moon says he had a vision or revelation of Jesus while praying atop a small mountain. According to Moon, Jesus implored him to complete Jesus' mission of saving all of humankind. Moon's high school years were spent at a boys' boarding school in Seoul, and later in Japan, where he studied electrical engineering.

Moon was arrested in 1946 by North Korean officials for preaching Christianity, forbidden by the communist government. The church says that the charges stemmed from the jealousy and resentment of other church pastors after parishioners stopped tithing to their old churches upon joining Sun Myung Moon's congregation. Police beat him and left him for dead, but teenaged disciple, Won Pil Kim, nursed him back to health...

little off-
they are the benefactors for the foundations for Korea's Little Angels and the Universal Ballet Company

as a member of UBC (but not the church) I can honestly say there's nothing funny about our company, they don't brainwash us or try to convert us. It has never even been mentioned. When Rev. Moon or Dr. Pak come to see performances, they are treated like any other VIPs (famous professional dancers, heads of Korea, Cartier...)and thanked with gifts and we take group pictures back stage. There are even relatively few people at the company (i don't believe any of the dancers are, only office members) who actually are part of the church...

Thanks Fusion. With the old man being in tight with the Bush crime family, his PC "peace" loving cult-network organization is also purported to deal in guns and God only knows what else.

Which reminds me, KK ( Noreagangs, PC Bangs, Massage Parlours etc ) are almost cetainly owned & run by the Korean Killers.

Get it?

KK?

While i don't know about other parts of the country, there are a whole number of these splattered around Daejon's CITY HALL area Confused
