The students are not the first to find alternate fuel sources for cars and they too will likely be trumped by as they said in loose terms rich oil guys.
Its a shame really, humans have been able to produce vehicles that are not dependant on oil for over two decades.
The sad thing is that the oil rich people have such an influence on decision makers (politicians) that this technology is not likely to see the light of day in a mass production sense.
Absolutley disgusting in my opinion, we have the ability to produce vehicles that could run on anything, urine, soy bean oil, deep fried oil, hybrids, electricity, hydrogen, water the list is endless you name it and it can happen. A buddy of mine owns a VW jetta, it was diesal but he spent 350 cdn$$ to transform it so that he can use any discarded cooling oil (filtered) and now his annual fuel bill never exceeds 500 $$.
Unfortunatley this type of forward thinking will not be a mass reality until the "decision" makers are fed lucrative deals on the side as they get from the present oil big wigs.
so very sad but true. |
