Hi all,
Just wondering how to go about getting your passport extended. Does it take a long time? And is there a hefty fee involved? I am travelling to China in a few weeks and my passport expires in July. I recently found out that you need at least 6 months on a passport to travel. Any help appreciated!
Cheers,

You can't get a passport 'extended' - you have to apply for a new one. How much it costs and how long it takes depends on what country you're from and where you live. |

Yep, as cruisemonkey said, you need to get your passport renewed (ie - new passport). You need to go to your embassy right away. Most countries allow their embassies to issue new visas. The US used to do this, but since 9-11 all passports must be issued in the US, which means that (if you are American) you can apply for it at the US embassy, but they have to send your application back to the states and have your new passport mailed here. This takes a long time. If you only have a few weeks, I would get on this right away, as well as pay extra for expedited service. If you're not American, it probably won't take as long because your passport will be issued here in Korea. |
