Hey! Well I've been looking at contracts for a couple of weeks, and using this board as a valuable resource as well, and the contract I was offered today seems ridiculous!

It doesn't state the pay ( I assume its approx. 2.0mil) but the TAX RATE IS APPARENTLY 8%!! Also the OVERTIME PAY IS 15,000 p/h!! Isn't this just shocking?!

Rest of the contract is your standard guff I s'pose, but obviously I've no intention of signing. By the way it's for a Reading Town in Hwamyeong, Busan. Anybody heard of it? Most posts on here seemed to be positive regarding the Reading Town franchise.

Hwa-myeong's down the road from where I live. I've heard of the franchise/school, but don't know that particular location or anyone who works there. Did the contract come from a recruiter or the school itself?

p.s. That tax rate would actually be close to exactly right if it included pension and health on 2mil(1.45% + 2.24% + 4.5%)...probably doesn't though.

Don't sign it. Look Again. Don't post this type of post again.

Why should I not post this type of post again? What's the big deal? I was just looking for some information on the school, and on tax rates (thank you to the other poster for answering that!). "Look again" at what? I just thought people might get a laugh out of the audacious 8% tax. Strange person.

Well since you said you have been reading up on contacts here...you know by now that that tax rate is off the charts. Hence..don't sign.

The comment made about not posting this is was probably meant to say that since you knew the contract was ridiculous why post about it here? What will it accomplish? (beyond giving some on here (and yourself?) a chuckle).

No big deal really.

Good luck with your job search.
