I always see Koreans playing the most elaborate drinking games. Anyone know any? I just know the flicking bottle cap, the game where you say 1 2 3... but you cant say it same time or last, and the thumb game.

Baskin Robbins 31 where you go in a circle and can say up to 3 numbers at a time. The person who has to say 31 has to drink.

The Seoul subway game where you have to say a station and if you are too slow or say one that's been said you have to drink.

The game with the shot glass floating in the beer and each person has to pour a bit of soju in, the person who fills it so full it sinks has to drink.

Pointing game where you all point and someone says a number and then follow the pointing fingers to the person who has to drink.

King game where you get a bunch of cigarettes and write numbers on them except on one of them you write 왕. Everyone takes one and who ever gets the King cigarette gets to ask any two random numbers to drink or do a dare.

Drinking with professor of Police Administration department once...we played a game like this -

Take one of the little table napkins, lay it on top of the beer glass , and turn beer over to wet the napkin-

Next, sling the napkin up on the ceiling as hard as you can- Next player repeats..

If the napkin thrown by the previous player falls before the next player slings their own...culprit drinks.

Granted this was a small 불닭 restaurant with only about 4 tables, and apparently he was well-known and therefore the ajummas yielded to his will. Interesting, but i can't imagine a group of strictly foreigners being allowed to get away with that:)

I like the one where you say "1,2,3" and you show 1,2,3,4 or 5 fingers. The person who loses by 1 has to drink. If no one is up by one, you close your fist and show again. Once someone wins, the loser drinks and you start again "1,2,3..."

2 beats 1
3 beats 2
4 beats 3
5 beats 4
1 beats 5

I dont' know why but some foreigners enjoy this game:

Buy a bottle of soju. Drink said bottle of soju. All who participate lose. The person who refuses to play wins.

It seems most of the most popular games are covered.

Another popular one is "gong gong chil" (that means 007, it's a James Bond themed game.)

I can't be bothered explaining the rules. If the OP is in a drinking situation, ask a Korean friend to explain how to play, it's not complicated but it probably takes longer for me to type than you to learn.

Sorry for getting off the track a little, but what is "porktanju". A drinking binge of sorts. My romanization of hangul is an approximation of the way it sounds

Here is one a bar girl taught me.

first wet the edges of the beer glass. Put a layer of a nakin over the beer glass. Put a 100 won in the center of the napkin. You are your bar girl light up a cigarret. You both take turns and poke holes through the nakin until the 100 won drops into the beer. The loser has to do whatever the other tells you to do.

Train wrack:

If you are with 5 to 10 people or more in the party, you pore that many glasses 2/3 filled with beer. You line them up, lip to lip. Take shit of whatever hard liquor you have and balance them on the edges between the lips like the domino. You make a cheer and knock them all down into the beer.
