Now, at risk of getting torn up for my taste in music, I heard that Diamond Rio is coming to Seoul to do shows at the base. Can anyone check those out...

I used to goto the Merritt Mountan Music Festival, and various other big country acts when I was home. Im not a gun toting, monster truck driving, full on redneck but Yearning for a little taste of home....

Is it only open for soldiers..??

Why should you be embarassed about being a Diamond Rio fan? I listened to them and every other country sound on the airwaves when I was a teenager in the early 1990s. I'm not even embarassed to say that at that age I would have been just as happy to throw on an old Charley Pride LP. I still do it. I didn't care who knew it either...although I grew up in a pretty rural area that had its share of country music fans.

Music taste is such an individual thing. No one should be expected to conform to the majority tastes just to make others feel better.

Go to the Diamond Rio concert if you can!!!! I'd be there too if I was still in Korea.

You will need a friend on the base (soldier, dod civilian, dependant) to sign you onto the base so you can see the concert.

The base facilities and shows are not open to the general public.

I want to see them, too, but yeah, you can't get on base unless you know somebody. I'd pay somebody to be my "friend" so I can see them... =)

I heard if you pay the US chamber of commerce, you can get base access. I know a guy that did that just so he could take a shortcut across base instead of fighting the traffic around Yongsan. Cut his commute time down quite a bit.

I can't get my voice that low...

Anybody else confuse Diamond Rio with Brooks and Dunn? I do that a lot...

I don't see any relation between Diamond Rio and Brooks and Dunn. Diamond Rio's electric guitar player has a very distinctive playing style that sets them apart from anyone else.

Diamond Rio has always been one of my favourite country bands....right from their first album in 1991. Brooks and Dunn never really cut it for me. They were OK...but not my favourite. When they came out with that "only in America" song that was it for me....I'm not going to listen to any band that plays that patriotic American crap. It's one of the reasons I no longer like Toby Keith anymore too (I did when he first came out though).

Edit: after I just wrote that I went to Diamond Rio's website and what is their newest song? Some stomach-turning patriotic song called "In God We Still Trust." Maybe they'll be on my hitlist now too!! Can you tell I'm Canadian?
