Hello all.
I have seen these two items mentioned in a few threads, but nothing that specifically addresses them.
Situation and Question.
Paid holidays. I am the only foreigner at my school. Contract says I get 10 days paid not including weekends and national holidays. During the year, we had 5 days off. My director at first tried to suggest that national holidays were part of that, but I shut it down pretty quickly. Then she wanted to simply release me a few days early at the end of my six month extension. I disagreed.
Thats the situation.
The Question.
Is a school required to reimburse the employee for holidays not taken? Or are they just gone? I'm not terribly bothered if they are, though it works out to more than 350000. I just dont want to wrongfully argue the point with her.

Next situation.
I am required to work 120 hours a month in order to qualify for OT. THat is about 30 hours a week. During a week in which we have a holiday however, I must work 30 hours during the other four days in order to qualify for OT. In essence, I dont get paid for holidays. Last week, we had one day off. I worked in four days, 31 hours. Hence, I accrue 1 hour of OT. It seems to me that I paid for the holiday by working the extra six hours for free.
An extreme example would be having a holiday each week. Unless I worked 30 hours in four days each week, I would fall short of my required 120, and be docked. Reasonable?
Opinion? Am i just a greedy bugger who wants my cake and eat it too?
Is there any law regarding this.
As always, flames, suggestions, and links are welcome.
