I have a question. I currently have 2 accounts for my Win XP. Administrator which is rarely used and pw protected and another account for which i do my daily internet surfing with. I have to switch to Admin to play a game and when i'm finished and I click switch user will that still leave me logged on? I clicked log off thinking it would take me to blue screen where i select accounts to access my computer but it doesn't. It just makes my screen hibernate for lack of a better term.

I would expect it to take to you to your accounts login screen too...
have you checked the power settings? Is it a laptop?

Did you try 'switch user'? My wife and I used to use that to toggle between accounts before I got her her own computer. The only problem is it leaves all active programs on for both accounts (could be a resource hog in some situations).

I could be wrong but I think more details of the problem may be neccessary... or maybe you need to get rid of your other non-admin account... or re-install Windows...

Is it a repeatable problem? Clicking "Log Off" should take you back to the user name/password box. If it only happens occasionally, it may just be windows hanging as it's trying to shut down. I've had machines that had horrible issues shutting themselves down at times hehe.

Sorry, I didn't know what else to provide. I have to switch to administrator because of punkbuster. Otherwise if i play on my regular account I cannot play online. I do know swtich user and if i do that it will leave me logged on like you mentioned.. I don't leave any programs running in the admin. I only use it to play my game that's it. The only thing that would be running would be Avast. I am just worried about if spyware comes in and i'm still logged in (even though i have to re=enter my password) can it do damage that it couldn't do if my computer is not administrator?
When I click Log Off my screen goes black that's it.. and my monitor power button light goes orange..

Its very simple. At the login, press Ctrl - Alt - Delete twice in quick succession and it will take you to a login screen where you can type in the login you want.
