Costco is offering free memberships until this Sunday. You pay for the membership but then they give you a 35,000 ticket for any products you want in the store.

This is in Daegu specifically but I would bet it's probably for all of them.

I wanted to take a quick look around Costco to see what they had before shelling out money fo a membership (I live 4 hours from the nearest store, so it had better be worth it). It's easy to do this in Canada, but not here. My wife explained, but they said no way, you have to pay to look around. We walked out and don't plan to go back, and it will take more than free membership to ge me to reconsider.

You live 4 hours away, why would you want to look around knowing that you ain't going to go there and buy things in bulk(too heavy/far to take back home).

As you know the only reason(s) to be a member and make it worthwhile is to buy in bulk or buy something you can't get anywhere else.

I wouldn't even consider traveling 4 hours. Maybe if they supplied something like deodorant and there wasn't anywhere else closer than that I'd consider it if I had the time but I wouldn't pay 35,000 to buy something I can get at the pharmacy(Korean deodorant).

However, that example doesn't apply to me because I live in Itaewon and have access to foreign deodorants.

I just got back from one of the Costcos in Seoul and was told that the "free" offer is only for Daegu and Daejon.

Hmmm. What if I got the membership card in Daejeon, and then spent the 35,000 won of vouchers in Seoul. Or is the 35,000 won thingy only valid in the Daegu and Daejeon stores?
Hmmm. Buying a train/bus ticket and travelling for hours to get 35,000 won of free gifts that I then have to lug all the way back. I've gone nuts!

You should've just talked to them yourself about getting in, skindleshanks. That's what I did a couple of years back. I talked to them strictly in English, no Korean, no nothing and I got in to look around and decided I didn't want to bother at the time because they just were not all that good then.

I joined now because they have waaaaaaaaaaaaay more foreign stuff!
