Have you ever made up any new Korean words? The best word I have made up so far was ManAjumma (ָ). I made up this word when I lived in Wonju. At my health club, there was a dance class. It was full of about 35 ajummas, but there was 1 man in the class. He became the first manajumma.

Sorry, this isn't about a made up korean word but a kudos. I could have used that word taking bellydance classes at the gym. Maybe 10 Korean women, a couple foreign women and this korean guy. There is nothing funnier than watching a guy trying to bellydance Laughing Even I'm not that funny.

"gimchi smile"

I thought up this compound noun to describe the red bits between the teeth for hours after eating the spicy stuff.

Maybe others have used it or a similar expression, though I've never heard of anyone else doing so yet.

ajummosity - refers to the scowl on the face of the dungheap pushing you

jungshin-byungjajuma - crazy ajuma

ddoong-do - any outcropping of rocks in the middle of the ocean that breeds irrational emotional outbursts

tae-goofy - the state of nationalistic fervor that turns smart people stupid

there's more, i'm sure.

The only one I made up was . Not very creative, I know. In fact, it probably applies to me in this instance. Crying or Very sad

This was made by a friend - : soju butterfly. Refers to the puke splat on the street - depending on what the person ate, beautiful in colour yet terrible.

(mine): sidedish dog. Used to refer to the pretty little dogs that many Koreans like - I usu tell 'em that they're extra delicious as they only have one bone that needs to be spit out.

(mine): potato bus...a twist on that "I got it!" expression of theirs.

Forgot one:

(mine): Byuhng-shin junction. When younger students are really pissing me off, I give them some simple directions: Go to the Byuhng-shin junction, turn right, and die! Wink

How about " " for a condom?

I've long used my own made-up Korean word for the pushy ajummas one cand find in the subways.

My Korean friends have chuckled at the word, and a very few that I am in regular touch with have begun to use my made-up word.

I cannot type Hangeul on this keyboard, so bear with my English transliteration: ji-ha-jumma (the word is a combination of "ji-ha-cheol," or subway, and "ajumma" [which should need no explanation]; very loosely, it translates as "subway ajumma").

Cheers,

Yowza!

I love the soju butterflies, by the way. I saw a website devoted to pictures of them, and I've been using it regularly ever since.

Here are a couple I've heard from some very "off-beat" people:

komaps - a casual thank you from one super-cool friend to another.

everythingseyo - covering all your bases in being polite.

I love it!

Not quite the same but me and my girl get into a lot of mixing up the languages. Our classic is "I love you imnida" which doesn't even make grammatic sense, but that's why I like it! Also "Sarang hae very much!"

The Konglish thread seems way down the line now so I'll put this here too. One that I really like at the moment is "Congratubaby!"
