Where can I find second-hand cars in the Changwon/Masan area, or maybe in Pusan? I've been told they are very cheap here. How much might I be paying? |

Do you know the red bridge on the road between Masan/Changwon?
If you are coming in to Masan, just after you cross the red bridge you will see a gas station at the first red light (it's maybe 100 meters after the bridge). Turn left at that gas station/stop light. You will be on a very short street (1 mini block long) with a T intersection. Go left again. You will be on a big street...6 or 8 lanes. The water is to your right.
About a mile down the road (it curves along the water) you will see a very large used car lot on the left. It's kind of behind some one-story buildings, but easy to see. Park and go in. (If you go too far, you will end up at Home Plus. Turn around and go back.)
It's kind of weird. It's a square, with the cars in the middle. The dealers have little shops around the square.
You should be able to find something decent for around W1 million. |

Is the Home Plus in the same building as Tescos? If it is I know it. |

It isn't in the same building, but might be next to it. There is some big building thingie to the left, but I never paid it any attention.
BTW, if you get the right dealer, he will take care of the legal paperwork for you. Otherwise, a big hassle.
If you are serious about getting a car, remember that you can't get one without insurance. Contact a company before you buy the car so you can supply the name, then be prepared to pay for insurance the same day you buy the car.
My suggestion: look at the cars and write down the info, go to an insurance company and ask about insurance rates, go back and buy the car, then the insurance.
There is also a car tax you have to pay, so figure that into your budget. |

Be sure to take your chop with you when you buy. It's necessary for the car registration. If you don't have one, get one. They are cheap.

There are also a couple lots right there by e-mart. Some in the direction of Changwon going..... I think.... East into changwon, and some going what would be South, just past the intersection...
It's been awhile, so my directions may be messed up.
But check EVERYTHING on the car. And drive it at highway speeds. |

Something decent for 1 million won?! The cars I saw are considerably more expensive than that.
I don't actually want a car for myself, I'm looking to buy for export you see. I've been told that Korea and Japan are great places to buy used cars. Any thoughts? |

I bought a 1993 Hyundai Elantra with around 100,000 K (63,000 miles) on it, in pretty near perfect condition, for 400,000 won.
It has had one owner and one mechanic.
Ask your friends and co-workers, and be patient. |

Best way to get a very affordable used cars. You can also ask your friends, co-workers if they know someone who has a used car lot. Have them come along with you. You'll get a better deal that way. Alternately, you could also check auction.co.kr. They have a used car section, and foreigners can register now. |
