|
|
I have a contract from a Direct English school in Busan that offers up to W5,000,000 as a security deposit and W150,000 a month for housing allowance (or W250,000 if I choose to not use the security deposit). I have no idea the general cost of housing in Pusan; can anyone give me a general idea? Is this a cardboard box or a penthouse with a view?
Thanks a lot!

With 5 mil down a box (8 or 9 pyeong) will cost 300,000 to 450,000 per month in Pusan.
Tell them to organise an apartment or get more money. |

Its a cardboard box...
Or a GREAT traditional style place with an outdoor communial toilet and a ledge for a kitchen.
My wife and I have a 3 bedroom apartment (28pyeong) that cost 70 million down and monthly rent....
Move on to the next contract or tell the school to stop joking around. |

I know people who have their own apartments in Seoul, the most place in Korea to get housing, who have places under 250,000 a month and no key deposit.
The secret?
The non-highrise apartments. Places that are three levels tall for example. |

yeah sure, no deposit and only 250,000....I've been renting in low-rises for the last three years, good luck you won't find anything like that. my cheapest place was 5,000,000 and 300,000 a month for 5 pyoung. Granted I know 2 people who have only paid 3mil and are paying 200 monthly. It is possible but their places are smaller and kind of half basement.
My current lowrise - 3rd floor of 4 and 15 pyoung- costs me 50 mil for no monthly. It's also got lots of roaches and the landlord won't let us install an a/c. Anyhow in August it's the big move to a highrise. 120mil and no monthly rent.
edit, if you get an Ok-top, then it would be much cheaper but even smaller with a greater risk of break-ins and a very hot in the summer and cold in the winter.

Thanks for the input guys...I asked them about it and they said that the 150,000 isn't meant to cover the entire cost...it's about 1/4 of what I'd have to pay. Apparently that's the norm with adult schools...I don't know. I guess it could work...we'll see. |
