I was working at a college and after the first year, I got one month's extra payment as most jobs give you.
When I signed for the second year, they told me they were no longer giving the bonus or whatever you want to call it. And it was not in the second contract.
Am I still entitled to that one month's severance after the second contract, even if it's not in the second contract. Is it the law and who should I report them to to try to get the money if I am entitled to it.
Thanks for your help. |

If you are a full time employee and qualify for the severance bonus in all other respects ( presumably you do, as they paid it the first time) they are legally required to pay it in the second year as well. The fact that it is not in your contract is irrelevant, it's mandated by law. In fact, if you start your second contract immediately after the first one, you don't even need to complete another year to get it. After a complete year of employment, it's prorated. Don't know who you go see to remedy nonpayment. Labor Board maybe? |
