Interested in creating a visual arts community in Seoul? I started the Seoul Art Collective because as an ex-pat artist I found it difficult to find other serious visual artists, art enthusiasts, and buyers. I also wanted to build an art community that artists could participate and be supported in. I am open to suggestions but here the basic structure:

-Meet once a month to view an art opening and discuss and network afterward.
-Use yahoo groups and myspace group to network, invite people to visit your home or studio, resource sharing, ect...
-I am also considering an article/book club for critical or art theory topics. This can be done either online or at a physical meeting in a coffee shop or something.

I have started the yahoo group already:

-To join the yahoo group you must follow this link. At the top there is a link for " Join This Group" . I think you have to have a yahoo ID. If you do not have a yahoo account you can just start one- It is very easy, but if you need help just email me.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/seoulartcollective/

As far as "myspace" it is a little more complicated to create a page, buy may be worth it for other networking purposes. You can find the "Seoul Art Collective" when you search the groups.

I will announce the first meeting once I have a few more people. Most likely the meetings will be on weekends in Seoul.

Best Regards,
