|
|
Here's my situation:My contract expires at the end of March but my E2 visa and ARC expire at the end of April. I'm now in the process of looking for a new job for the beginning of April, but in order to obtain the green light from immigration, do I need to get my current hagwon's director to provide me with an LOR in order to be eligible for a new job? I ask this because I know one has to have completed the visa before obtaining a new one, right? So in order to do this I take it my boss has to give me an LOR stating that she is letting me go even though my contract has already finished before my visa expires.
If anyone knows what the deal is, then please let me know ASAP. I would appreciate any advice on this matter. |

| Contracts are worth slightly more than toilet paper. Its the visa that counts. And in your case you will need an LOR or your boss cancelling your visa to be able to get a second visa. |

your VISA expires on the date printed on your alien card.
immigration will not issue a new one until it expires.
so, yeah, if you intend to start a new job directly after your current contract ends, you will need to be released from your current visa.
however, some people on this board have noted that this can be accomplished with phone call from your director to immigration. |

OK I thought that was the case but just wanted to be sure. My next question is, what does my boss have to write in the LOR? And when should the letter be dated? On the last day of my contract or the day after?
Also, once my visa has been cancelled, how long can I stay in Korea before having to obtain a new visa?
Thanks again for any advice. |

10 days.
but again, some have been held to the exact day of expiry.
you can easily apply for an extension at the immi office.
i think you can also download the application from their site. |
