Any recommendations on which is a good one? Ive never done any teaching as such so want something that actually helps as much as an online course can.

The ones that have the most advertising! Laughing Don't buy the hype!

Use ESL boards (and not just Dave's) to get your info.

Here's a distance ESL/EFL certificate program that I've heard repeatedly is excellent in terms of content, heavy in quality workload, and actually provides the only distance program recognized in Canada as equivalent to the CELTA in giving one the certification needed to teach esl in that country.

The University of Saskatchewan programs in TEFL or CERTESL, the latter being more comprehensive: http://www.extension.usask.ca/ExtensionDivision/credit/Certificate/TEFL/index.html
