|
|
I am going to Korea and looking for a position.
I am from USA so as you know I will have a 30 day visa. However, I would like to go ahead and get a 90 visa. So my question is can i get the visa at the airport or do I have to go to the embassy here in Chicago and get it?
Also, if I have a 90 day visa can i enter the country without an onward ticket?

Entering the country without an onward ticket isnt as difficult as one might think.
I did it my first and third year without any problems....if anyone asks tell them your hogwan/school never mentioned it....this will be greeted with rolled eyes and a nod of understanding as there are literally hundreds of people brought in each month with one way tickets.
No clue as to where you get the visa...try contacting the Korean Embassy nearest you. |

You don't want to tell them you're coming here to work at a hagwon if you only have a tourist visa. That's a very bad idea. I've been asked to present a return ticket by the airline, but upon learning I have an ARC, I don't seem to need it. However, I'mI would guess that those with tourist visas might need it, although my guess is they don't check to see that you have it. A lot of countries have rules about an onward ticket which are not enforced. Be sure to ask the consulate about this.
As for getting a 90-day visa, you need to obtain that at a Korean embassy or consulate before coming to Korea. There is no visa issuance at the airport. If you arrive at the airport with no visa, you are allowed to stay as a tourist with no visa for 30 days, which cannot be extended. |

What the above "knowledgeable " posters are neglecting to tell you.. is that certain airlines will not allow you a boarding pass if your one way destination is one that is not allowed. Just because they "say" it worked for them, will not guarantee that it will work for you. |

As Magicwolfman has stated, "it may have worked for them, it may not work for you." Many airlines require you to have either a return ticket or a forwarding detination before they will allow you on the aircraft. It's better to be safe and secure in the knowledge that it's all above board. |

That is very true.
I for one know that without my E-2 visa already in my passport Korean Airlines wouldn't have let me travel on my one way ticket from London to Seoul. |

Actually I did mention that, but if you're trying to be insulting, I'll give you an "B" for effort. |

Sorry, you were not the one I was referring to. I could be wrong, but I am not aware of any nationality that is allowed to enter Korea without a return, or onward ticket. |
