I don't know thing one about busking there so i'm curious if anyone has any tips?
Legal/illegal?

Headed there on a visa run in a few weeks with a female friend. Got a pretty good package deal on the hydrofoil, and am taking the KTX to Busan. Not counting the KTX ride, I am spending not much over 210,000 for the hydrofoil and hotel in Japan (it's considered "high season" now).

When I was last there Tenjin station was full of buskers and probably not easy to stand out of the crowd. The acoustics weren't great either. Take your banjo and you'll also probably stand out more too.
Maybe try the cafe area nearby, as it seemed full of people, or take enough money so you don't have to busk.

thanks dudes...
I'm going to book that package through kangsan for 190Gs.
thanks for the banjo tip... I guess I'd better go learn more banjo songs...
and yes I AM going to bring enough money for food... I'm not keen on busking IN the subway station as acoustics down in those subway stations the sounds ends up bouncing all over the place.

Which direction toward the coffee house?

I used to busk for charity fundraisers and gave it up only because the IRS may have back taxed me. Had a regular well paid job at the time too.

In Spain, I'd often pass a duo who played regularly in the La plaza del Sol on my way to language classes. By lunchtime, these guys had a guitar case full of 100 paseta and assorted coins(Their two alsation dogs were probably there in a peacekeeping capacity). They had two advantages; they could play Romanza, and they had a portable amp. That one tune seemed to be all they knew and the locals loved them. That was one time I had wished that I'd brought an instrument with me for both money and fun(minus getting mugged by a desperate drug addict).

Take your guitar/banjo and have some fun.

i did some busking in AB and BC...
I've done it in the PNU area in Busan too (so far the most profitable place i've done it) as well as Haeundae (less so).

I would rather take my banjo (would rather busk with it period) cause it's cooler and more fun. BUT i'm quite new to it, don't know many songs (i can play 4 could fake my way through about 10), and play the guitar WAY better. I do some really raunchy travis picking and i think i've got a good grasp on rhythme and such. In other words, my gitbox is better.

do you think that seven or eight songs is enough to busk on?

What are other people's opinions of busking? or busking in korea? who's done it?

7-8? Sure, why not? More songs the better.

Always good to be able to take or suggest requests Wink

Busking in Korea? Laughing Yuppie music maybe, sure ...

Break a leg!
