So I just found out from my school that I have 9 days vaction starting next Tues. Can anyone offer suggestions for cheap places to go?

I just got back from a trip to Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia. I have already done Beijing and Tokyo. I only have a few months left in Asia and then back home, so where do you think is a "must see"?

I would like to do North Korea but I need more time for a visa. Some ideas I had were The Phillipines, Malaysia or Taiwan.

Thanks very much for any suggestions.

i think the suggestions you came up with would all be great places to visit on a budget. i spent some time in kuala lumpur malaysia, but didn't get to explore outlying areas. it's a pretty fun city to check out. phillipines is awesome -- go to manila -- sabang beach -- palawan.

not sure about tapei, but heard it's cool ...

Hit up Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur is a great cith with a great night life, and fly out to one of the islands and soak up the rays on a perfect white sand beach and do some snorkelling.

Wow, I'm in exactly the same boat. I guess it wouldn't be possible to do China and get the visa on a few days' notice, would it?

Yes, it would.

They have express visa issuance for a bit more won. Take your passport yourself to the embassy in Seoul. It will take 24 hours.

As for the OP- go to HK and take a boat to Macau!!

9 days.. definetely the Philippines or Malaysia.

9 days in Taiwan is a bit too much.. the island is not that big.

For the Philippines.. the options are limitless.. mountains in the north or tons of beaches with 7000+ islands to choose from.
