Wow, that's really impressive. That's the best online translator I've ever seen. It can even translate complex sentences really well. It does a pretty impressive job even with centuries old poetry which doesn't fit grammatical norms. I typed in one of Goethe's most famous poems, and it translated it as:
"Over all summits is rest, in all treetops hardly feel you a breath; The small birds are silent in the forest. Control room only, balde you rest also."
Apart from the "Control Room" glitch, it looks pretty good. I'm sure most online translators would have made a horrible mess of it. |

And apparently it's only a javascript program or something similar. I hope they come out with something as good for English/Korean. |

pretty neat. Not perfect but as JBC says, it's better than most of the others out there... I predict lots of homework will be done with this..... |

Yeah right.
Input:
"Good morning. My name is Manner of Speaking. It's nice to meet you! I will be your teacher for this semester."
Translation into Korean:
" ħ. ̸ ϱ ̴. ʸ It's ! б⸦ ̴."
Translated back into English:
"Good morning. My name talks is method. It will be extensive it meets and the }it{' S! For this semester which is born will be your teacher."

Babelfish is one of the better of the free onlines ones, and when I made my post here I was thinking of how this did in comparison with Babelfish.
Verdict: pretty damned good.
des muggles? Messing up just one article is pretty good.
Machine translators in general still have a long way to go- at least the free ones.
I had project about a year and half ago evaluating translating s/w for possible purchase to cut down on translation costs.
In the end it was decided to stick with human translators- no software could hit a good enough accuracy rate. This one translates on the fly as you type as well- it's very promising, IMO.
I haven't checked out the Google one yet though. |
