came across this term in an ESL book, and it apparently refers to the humanistic side of English teaching. Seems to be concerned with getting students to feel and have emotional attachments to the English they learn.
Anyone out there used methods remotely related to this concept |

Basically I think it boils down to having students do things that they like, such as games, pop songs etc, as opposed to doing things that the teacher / school/ or book gives them.
Sure it's a good help, but it's not so easy to get any kind of comprehensive program without some more traditional things.
Maybe I'm way off base here, but that's my 2 won. |

Most of the references to NLP that I've seen have been in the area of personal development. I won't try to put forth an explanation since I don't think I could do it justice. Depending on who is explaining it, it can be a pretty dense subject. You should be able to pull some decent info and references from the wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuro-linguistic_programming
Also, you should be able to find some good specific material by searching for NLP audio books on your p2p program of choice. |

There was a lecture on it in the summers ESL conference thing in Seoul, I was interested in hearing it but I couldnt make it.
The thing with it, as i understand it, is manipulating the way people think with your words. Its effectiveness is minimised greatly when using a second language as they have not grown up with preprogrammed responses to the words.
Its all about increasing motivation and enthusiasm to work. If you find anything on it in ESL world post it up, I'd be really interested to see it. |
