Do they have an expiry date? I'm thinking about bringing $9000 worth home with me on the plane. I might not deposit them in my bank acct until I get my non-residency status cleared away, so they might be stored away in a safe place for awhile. An expiry date, however, might change these plans.
Thanks for any info on the matter .... |

I don't think they do.
The other option is to get it as a money order. Citibank or Korea Exchange Bank can do them. That's what I did. |

No, they don't.
You get a better exchange rate getting T/C's than exchanging for money or doing a money order (which you have to pay for).
Your plan is the best way to do it. Hubby and I took over 10K home with us that way. |

Really...I wasn't aware that the exchange rates would be different. That's good to know. |

| Very easy way to carry money back home. Anything under 10K will spare you from having to be questioned by customs if you're entering the states. Another benefit of T/C over a money order is you can get your money refunded if you lose the checks (but still have the receipts). Can't do the same with a money order I believe. |

| take your cash to a foreign exchange desk at any bank branch. Don't think it will be too much hassle to find a place. |

Many smaller branches dont have a foreign exchange counter & therefore cant provide travellers checks or wire services. Your bank should have a main or at least larger branch somewhere in your town to meet your needs. |
