How often has your school re-arranged the staff room in advane of the new school year? In our academic HS staff room they're doing it again for the second time in a month. I don't quite see what was wrong with it the first time. Re-arranging everything just exposed a lot of built-up grime on the floor where the desks used to be; of course, this problem was quickly fixed by making the girls polish the floor on their hands and knees. Now they're re-arranging the desks again.

Last week I went to my desk at the vocational staff room only to find the staff room had disappeared - completely; the day before it was a fully functioning staff room and then, upsayo! It looked like it had been looted by Iraqis. I finally managed to locate the new staff room on a different floor and my desk - with my school text books still in it - in a stack in the stairwell.

Is this a common or traditional practice or does my school just like creating a lot of unnecessary work?

You've been around here long enough to know the answer to that one!

It is a common and traditional practice of creating a lot of unnecessary work.

I used to work at a private high school so this was new to me this year. My partner did tell me this was an annual thing that they are all aware of. In my school the teachers just pull their drawers out of their desks and install them in their new positions. The good news being that they seem to have decided that I can stay where I am and they will shift places around me.

February is fun--it should receive a UN designation as "Korean Pointless, Directionless, Uselessness In Education Month".

That is just so true. I have never seen such a complete waste of time as February has so far been.

Mine hasn't moved at all. Then again there aren't that many places it could move to or many ways to reorganize it.

After a year of having an office to myself and getting a 'buddy'. And actually feeling pretty good about it. At least I'll maybe, possibly find out about important stuff before it happens. And i'll get a hand with policing my floors bathroom which due to my slackness has become the smoking room. But I think the teachers entering 'my world' are not too thrilled.

Ah, you may have answered my question as to where my "supervisor" has disappeared to. She is leaving this week, and I don't know who is replacing her yet. The other option is that she has just left without telling me. I hope not.
