I have got an EPIK job and my contact in Busan ed seems to (obviously) know his info PRETTY well.
So, i'm putting this out there as
1) looking for confirmation of this
OR
2) statement of fact.

I picked up my contract today along with a "Certificate of Acceptance" (i THINK it was called).
I had given all of my necessary paper work to the office (degrees, transcripts etc...) and they told me to bring only

-contract
-the money
-passport photos
-this "certificate of acceptance"
-passport

NOTHING about ANY other info.
anyone know anything concrete about that?

WHat is the 'certificate of acceptance'? I came back to korea quite recently and just needed the 'visa' issuance number. I got my E2 in the UK and did it by post.

They only needed my passport, and a completed visa application for with the visa issuance code on it. Certificate of acceptance sounds like a 'blue letter', which is the 'old school' system.

I had to send 'sealed transcripts, original degree, photocopies of passport and pictures to the korean education folks before I was given the number.
Good luck anyway, hope everything goes well.

The certificate is the paper that has information about your visa sponser, i.e. your school or EPIK. This is necessary, and will be used to create your visa, which states your place of employment.

You probably need your college transcripts and actual diploma, as well. I'm not sure if that's changed, but they was needed when I got my visa last year. Your writing is a bit vague. What do you mean by "bring" these items? Where are you bringing them? Are you mailing them to Korea to get your visa?

Also, what country do you live in? This link has some official info if you live in the US, and you could probably search the web for more official statements of fact.

Q.

What kind of visa do you have?
What kind of visa are you getting?
Are you renewing, or is this a new job?

sorry...vague.
1) have e-2
going to get e-2
2) new job (not renewal)
3) doing visa run to fukuoka (bring there). currently living HERE.
4) i wasn't given any number: Was told that those two were the only two documents i would need (And passport and money )
I asked my guy about this number and he said there was no number necessary.

NOTICE OF APPOINTMENT.

I supplied transcripts on Korea side but the Toronto consulate also wanted to see either sealed transcripts or my original degree. So, if you go to a embassy/consulate for your passport's visa inlay, make sure you have another copy of your sealed transcripts or at least your original degree.

I've talked to the man today.
He said that the EPIK program is run differently from normal hagwon registration.
I HAD submitted original documents (AND sealed when necessary) to the Busan ed. office. Then they hand me this paper saying it's all i need.
I SAW the man's list on his desk so he has been saying this to other teachers too.

I'm going to pick up my degree there on friday just so i have SOMETHING in case i get the hoopy... I'm also going to bring the guy's phone number and have HIM talk to the consolate if there is a problem...

I'm in the same situation, only I'm not in Korea right now. Since I'm not very close to a Korean consulate and didn't want to travel a great distance for nothing, I called the closest consulate to ask them if a "Notice of Appointment" is enough. They said no, I HAVE to have a visa confirmation number. The person I talked to could have been mistaken, but who knows? I've emailed my contact in Korea and asked them to send me a visa confirmation number (it's not like I haven't done THAT before), so hopefully things will work out.

If anyone else knows anything, please let us know!

Thanks.

the problem is this guy simply will NOT give me a visa confirmation number.... because he is certain i DON'T need one. I have asked, literally a dozen times and it's not that he isn't giving me one, it's that he says there isn't one to give.

I'm going into his office on friday to get my degree.
If he STILL has my UNOPENNED original transcripts i'm gonna take them too. If he says that he has submitted them to somewhere, then i'm going to have to go on his word (but still take my degree).

this plot is getting thicker and thicker.

keep in touch with me two roads...i'm assuming you're applying with EPIK when you say "same situation" (and that you've submitted your original degree AND transcripts to the regional office)

by the sounds of it, i am NOT nearly alone.
I am INCREDIBLY curious as to how this will pan out. So many people getting shitty information from public schools OR from consolate.
If there is ANYONE doing this run soon, put up the info as SOON as you have it. I am doing my run this coming monday and i'll make SURE to post as SOON as i find out...and my contact is going to get 3 ears full if he's wrong (and he'll be "all expenses"ing my next trip that's for sure).
