I can't count how many threads are disappearing for no real reason. People will start to take their posting and "business" to another forum eventually. If money talks then Dave needs to start getting control over these MOD'S. It has become a joke. The most useless crap will stay on here but anything even a little interesting will be gone in a couple of days.
This will be gone soon too. Then I will post it again.

i've always been pretty civil, and i've been deleted a couple of times. it's particularly frustrating after you spend a considerable amount of time writing something.

and the next post to be deleted is?

The problem with some posts is:

What some people find 'entertaining' others find juvenile, assinine and oftentimes out of line.

If you want to go to a forum where you can curse, swear and fling crap like a monkey, then go to one of those forums.

If you want to play in Dave's pool then you play by his rules.

Nobody forces you to post here!

I also try to follow the rules. I do try... and I also get angry after you have spent days in a thread just to have some bored MOD delete for no real reason.

Grotto....I have paid a large amount money to Dave, unlike a lot of posters here. Over the years I have spent a lot of money here placing ads and feel that I at least have contributed to the site. So, since I am a paying customer, I think I have the right to ask for a little more consideration be given, prior to deletion.

Hey I got a plan bellum99, lets overthrow the Moderators! They do their job for a reason. I've had one of my posts erased. I did not argue with them. Perhaps you could join another internet forum of some sort. Give them a break!

I think you may be right. From another angle. It seems to me that any time there is a strong anti-Canadian or chauvinist sentiment expressed, not to mention any little dirty word, somebody is all over it. But they seem to not care about offending Muslims by failing to censor "dulouz's" avatar.

Selective free speech? Laziness? Self-centeredness? Ethnocentrism? Racism?

You decide.

I also agree that the way this is likely to be handled is that this thread will simply be deleted.

Hey, there's constant chauvinist, hatred towards western women on these boards that NEVER seem to get censored. However, the minute a person wants to challenge that nasty attitude a big attack happens and then all the posts get deleted. Seems it's perfectly fine for men to say nasty things about western women and all the praise in the world about asian women. However, it's NEVER okay for women to sing the praises for men who are anything but "white." What a JOKE.

What alternative is that? What do you mean? I think they could at least give reasons for deleting entire threads. Some threads I've seen got deleted for whatever reason I have no idea. Then I've seen some posts deleted and come back again. What's up with that?

There should a forum of deleted threads that are locked and a final posting by the Mod who locked it explaining why they did it. This I could understand. There must be a reason.

Sure it can be frustrating getting a post or even a whole thread deleted. I assure you we don't do it "out of boredom."
We wish we didn't have to do it at all Confused

Some people don't realize that often, in their absence from the boards, a particular thread they were participating in has completely gone to crap with flame wars for 2 pages and counting...some provoked by trolls who aim to derail threads, some just because of heated differences of opinion that get out of hand. We do our best to edit out the flame wars, but some threads are just not salvageable that way, ie: they wouldn't make much sense after editing out the bad stuff. Sometimes peoples' posts get caught up in the edit.

Users often don't see a lot of the really bad stuff because it gets removed pretty quickly. Usually it saves threads from being ruined by a huge flame war because we removed the "you polesmoking assmunch" type stuff so the discussion can continue normally----which had nothing to do with polesmoking assmunches.

It's nowhere near perfect but it keeps things more or less civil.

Lots of users pm us asking where so-and-so thread/post went, and we tell them. We usually pm the op of a thread that's been moved to tell them.

Locking threads generally starts the car crash rubbernecking effect. Saving threads in a public spectacle forum would also help perpetuate wars and the nastiness that's transpired between users.
Best to forget about it and move on.

Then why do threads like this get deleted when there's no flaming words or feuds of any kind? There's no argument here. Most of the people here would like to know WHY their own posts get deleted. That's fine if it's obvious but there seems to be a LOT that aren't so obvious as to WHY.

Oh so now the game is called, "we don't really like your subject so we move it to another forum called "off-topic." Hmm, I thought the thread was very "on-topic." Laughing

Anyone care to take bets on how long it takes for this thread to get the boot? I say ONE day. What say you?

Korea's Immigration system seems to make more sense. Shocked
