I am living in Pundang and I would like to know how to book a ticket on the KTX. I would also like some opinions. I would like to take the KTX this weekend and I can't decide which line to take. Should I go to Mokpo or should I go to Pusan? Or maybe do both? Catch the ferry between the two lines. I am hoping to go on Saturday and come back on Tuesday. |

You can buy a ticket in advance or same day at any train station. The trains bound for Mokpo leave from Yongsan, and the ones to Busan leave from Seoul Station. Many of them stop at Kwangmyeong on their way out of Seoul, if that is more convenient for you (I don't know where Bundang is). |

I have already been looking at the English version of that website and you need some kind of login and password to book an online ticket. So, I guess I'll just buy one the day I want to leave and hopefully they will still have something available.
Which place do think is better? Pusan or Mokpo? And do you have any suggestions for places to stay? I have been looking into the hostels. |

If you go to Busan you can find a clean, safe yeogwan in the area just across the road from the train station for W25,000. From there it's a 10-minute walk to the ferry terminal.
Just a word of warning - in that area you'll get mistaken for a Russian with your long, blond hair and might get some unwanted ajoshi attention. The same goes for certain areas of other southern, port cities. I know there's a hostel in Busan but I think it's a bit hard to find. I have no idea what sort of travellers would be hanging out there. |

Busan is a big city and plays the part. Mokpo is also technically a big city, but it doesn't seem like it at all. It seems like a pretty sleepy port city. Doesn't seem to be a lot going on there. There are some nice views there though, although not much else to see or do there. If I were you, I would check out Busan first, and maybe Mokpo another time. |

Go to the train station a few days before...book a ticket...simple, easy and quick.
I would recommend Busan over Mokpo (I am biased as I live in Busan!) |

ah hate to break the news but there is a strike going on regarding the KORAIL, trains are running at less than 40% of the numbers they usually run. You may have a hard time getting a ticket this weekend |

Mokpo is very boring, not much there. Spent one night there before taking the ferry to Jeju. Stay from Mokpo, there isn't really anything worth seeing. |
