Whoa!
That IS Rudy x 10 !!!
I can see a movie script...
'Based on a true story...'
...might have been the perfect vehicle for Leonardo DiCaprio circa 1993. In fact, that youngster resembles DiCaprio from What's eating Gilbert Grape |

Thank you. My son has been diagnosed on the autism spectrum and this story gave me a lift for the morning. Seriously, Thank you. |

Hey, my thoughts. But, on the up side, is there not something to be said for parenting the unfortunate as opposed to parenting ingrates and/or idiots? Not being facetious here. Simplistic, yes.
Having been a teacher and counselor in my time, I always had a much easier time dealing with difficulties with those that lack control over their world as opposed to those who really have no excuse for their behavior.
Strength to you. |

What a fantastic story!!!
I have an autistic nephew and to see this story was just great.
Anything that can bring more public awareness to autism is a good thing.
Thanks. |

Beauty.
I've specialized in working with autistic kids, and I wish I saw that kind of support and appreciation from peers more often.
(I was surprised when the interviewer said "So you caught fire..." and the kid repeated and extended the metaphor. I've had some significant misunderstandings while trying to use figurative language with autistic kids, who are naturally VERY literal-minded.) |
